The Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church is led by a strong team of qualified and gifted individuals who have a heart for children. They direct and lead in such programs as Children’s Church, Children’s Sunday school, AWANA, Vacation Bible School and more.
Kim Hodge – Children’s Church Co-ordinator
Kim Hodge is an especially gifted children’s leader at FBC Buda, having taught and worked with children for many years and has been instrumental in seeing many of our children make professions of faith in Christ. She is loved by every child that walks through her class and has been especially used in working with Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, our Summer Children’s Bible Program and AWANA’s. She and her husband Floyd, reside in Buda, Texas and love traveling together.
Margaret Hughston – Children’s Worship Folder Director/Creator
Margaret Hughston and her husband, Louis, are active members at FBC Buda. Margaret sings in the choir, is involved in our WMU program and Ladies Bible Study and especially loves working with children. She teaches a Children’s Sunday school class and works faithfully each year in our Vacation Bible School, as well as weekly serving in our AWANA program. Margaret heads up our Children’s Worship Folder Ministry that weekly provides an educational/activity tool for children in our worship services. Our Worship Folders are an excellent help for families attending our worship services providing a loving ministry for their children.
April Moses – Childcare Coordinator
April Moses, aka “The Child Whisperer,” is excellent especially with young children. She has served as a Nursery leader at FBC Buda for more than 15years and currently is the Childcare Coordinator for our Nursery program. She is highly qualified currently working as an employee of the Hays School District. Her expertise is a great asset to FBC Buda Children’s Ministry. On top of her nursery duties, April works with our Children’s AWANA program and Vacation Bible School. April, and her husband Paul, have 4 children and are active members of FBC Buda.
Caitlin Quigley – AWANA Game Leader
Caitlin Quigley has been involved with our children’s ministry since she was a youth student herself over a decade ago. She has worked with K – 8th grade students in volunteer and professional capacities throughout this time, always endeavoring to be willing to go where the Lord leads her. With experience as a general education teacher alongside a series of other roles held in local schools, Caitlin values encouraging curiosity and deeper understanding among children eager to understand the world around them, especially in terms of how it all points back to God. The Spirit is continually discipling her in versatility and she serves in our nursery with the toddlers, looks forward to Vacation Bible School every year, is currently directing the games for AWANAs, and helps coordinate our Wednesday night summer children’s program. Caitlin and her parents are active members of FBC Buda.
Joyce Roach – Children’s Sunday School Director
Joyce Roach and her husband, Wesley, are active and indispensable members at FBC Buda, having been members at FBC for many years, and serving in multiple capacities. Joyce is the Director of our Children’s Ministry Team and serves as the catalyst for the Children’s Ministry at FBC. She brings great experience and expertise to the children’s ministry having served as Mother’s Day out Director at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. She serves as our Children’s Sunday School Director/Coordinator and is also Co-Director for our Vacation Bible School, as well as working weekly in our AWANA program. She maintains our Children’s Ministry Resource Room and keeps our Children’s Ministry running strong. Joyce also helps to coordinate many of our children’s outreach events throughout the year such as Fall Festival and Boo-da Halloween.
Nicole Wehrman – AWANA Director
Nicole Wehrman and her husband, Nate and their children are long time members of FBC Buda. Nicole has been involved in the Children’s Ministry at FBC Buda for many years and currently serves as Director for our growing AWANA program. She is very gifted in organizational and administrative skills, and does a great job in keeping our AWANA program on track and growing. She also works in our Vacation Bible School program. Nicole serves in other capacities around the church serving on committees and working in our sound booth.
